This is a short, and arguably “mixed”, review by Mike Crean of The Second World War Began in New Zealand, from Christchurch daily newspaper The Press on 30 December 2006.
This book, which explains popular misconceptions and urban myths, is purportedly a serious addition to New Zealand non-fiction and essential reading. If you accept the tongue-in-cheek style in which it is written and illustrated, you may find it interesting, or even mildly fascinating in parts. It may be useful in deciding some arguments, or in setting questions for a quiz. But if you are not interested in any of the above, it will seem just plain silly.
Based on the above, my advice would therefore definitely be to “accept the tongue-in-cheek style in which it is written and illustrated”…
